Summary written by Hetty Garnier

The first game was a bit of a shock to the system for most of my team as only one of us had managed to play so far this season. We won the hammer in the coin toss, and took a 2 in the first end. We took a five in the second to go up 7-0, and despite some great play from Sarah the game ended 11-4 after 6 ends.

We came back on Saturday for a further two games, both of which were much closer. Becca Watts swapped with Sarah to become skip of the other team. Game two was a much lower scoring game, with Becca taking a 1 then us a 2 in the first couple of ends. After a steal by Becca in the sixth, it was 3-3 going into the last end, where we managed to score a 4, taking the game 7-3.

The final game was pretty even as well, with both teams taking two’s with hammer for the first 3 ends, before we stole a 1 in the fourth to make it 5-2. Then Becca played a great end to take a 3 to make the score 5-5. We struck back with a 3 of our own in the penultimate end, and played some clean hits in the last to hold them to a 1 to leave the final score at 8-6.

Thanks to the rink for providing us with some great ice, and well played to Sarah’s team, we’re now really looking forward to the Europeans in a couple of months.
